A Singaporean hunter has paid 55,000 dollars for hunting a rare goat Markhor with bow and arrow, but later had to gun down after the animal escaped his arrows in the rugged terrain of Chitral, WWF sources said.
The man named Wwayne Lau lives in the US, and came to Chitral in February for hunting and stayed there for one week to find a Markhor of trophy size, but could not locate one.
He returned again in March and managed to spot and kill Markhor in village Gahraite. "I tried to kill it with arrows, but it escaped in the open rugged terrain, devoid of any tree cover. Eventually, I had to bring down the animal with a gun shot," Lau said.
Lau has also hunted in the America but said hunting in Chitral was a unique experience for him because of difficult terrain.
