The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has busted two gangs of drug peddlers and arrested six smugglers, besides recovering huge quantity of drugs in two different operations.
ANF Joint Director Lieutenant Colonel Wasif Sajjad stated this in a press briefing here on Friday. Colonel Sajjad said that on a tip off by our informer two smugglers Gul Muhammad and his son Abdul Rehman were intercepted near Attock, but the smugglers tried to escape. The ANF officials chased the smugglers and opened fire on them due to which Rehman sitting on the back seat of the vehicle received injuries.
Later, the ANF arrested both the culprits and shifted Abdul Rahman to a local hospital. The smugglers before getting arrested set ablaze the car they were travelling. However, the ANF recovered 107kg charas and 8kg heroin from the car, Sajjad said.
He said that in the second operation the ANF caught two China-bound drug smugglers Muneer and Asif from Islamabad Airport and recovered 166kg heroin filled capsules from their stomach.
During investigation they said that Mian Iqbal and his influential companions were involved in the smuggling. The main financier was Mian Iqbal himself.
When the ANF conducted raid at a house in Chaklala Scheme III, they found 28 capsules and 1,600 grams heroin, 850 grams of charas and two latest model cars and apprehended four smugglers, including Mian Iqbal, Azhar, Muhammad Latif and Chan Pir Shah. The ANF joint director told journalists that the gang was involved in heroin smuggling to China.
