The governments of Pakistan and India should soften their visa policies to increase people-to-people contacts, which will strengthen the ongoing efforts of peace and harmony between the two countries.
The writers, artists and intellectuals of both the countries should be allowed to travel without any visa, said World Punjabi Congress (WPC) Chairman Fakhar Zaman, while addressing the international conference on Sufi poet Shah Hussain here on Thursday.
He asked the government to take necessary steps so that people of both the countries might be able to exchange their views, share sentiments for mutual understanding and harmony.
"Tremendous changes have occurred in the approach of the people of two countries, and the caravan of peace cannot be stopped by the dictators, politicians and bureaucrats", he added.
In the past, it was rather impossible to see the cricket matches of India and Pakistan, but now "the young boys and girls can paint the pictures of national flags on their cheeks which symbolises that peoples of the both countries are worshiper of peace", he pointed out.
"We are optimistic rather pessimistic regarding peace process and our struggle will get fruits soon," he added.
