Chairman World Punjabi Congress (WPC), Fakhar Zaman, has urged the government to take immediate steps for establishing 'National Punjabi University' in the provincial metropolis, apart from providing jobs to MA Punjabis.
While addressing the concluding session of the three-day Shah Hussain International Congress, here on Friday, Fakhar also demanded of the government to approve launching of more Punjabi TV channels and also give ads to Punjabi periodicals.
At the end of the moot, a declaration was issued, which says 'poets and intellectuals are of the opinion that the present Western phraseology of civil society, advocacy and tolerance, have become ineffective and bereft of essence because we are alienated from cultural and spiritual past. In fact, humanism struggle against oppression and culture of tolerance are the salient features of our Sufi literature.
We consider that foreign invasions, wars, poverty, class struggle and solitude are the products of centuries' old system. Baba Farid sided with the poor people during Mangles attack and Sufi poets like Mulla Fazil, Shah Hussain, Pir Roshan, Shah Inayat and Bayazid Ansari sacrificed their lives in their struggle for collective ownership for Pushtoon and Sindhi peasants.'
