Russian oil and gas companies will discuss the investment opportunities particularly for laying trans-border pipelines with the government in the second week of April, said an official statement on Friday.
A six-member delegation will be visiting Pakistan from April 10 to 15 at the invitation of petroleum minister. Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah Khan Jadoon, who is currently in Ankara to attend Caspian Black Sea Oil and Gas Summit in his keynote address highlighted the investment prospects vis-a-vis privatisation of Pakistan's oil and gas sector, the statement added.
The government is offering liberal and investor friendly petroleum policy pertaining to onshore and offshore exploration.
According to the statement, the Russian delegation expressed the desire to visit Islamabad to explore investment opportunities, expertise in the areas of drilling, seismic exploration, pipeline construction and oil and gas well-related technologies.
They said that the consortium would be willing to mobilise reasonable number of drillings and exploratory rigs, logging equipment and unitary pipeline construction machinery supported by high calibre professionals. They also evinced interest in the oil and gas privatisation activities, the statement added.
The Russian consortia will comprise of Dr Alexander S Barinov, Vice President International Projects M/s Siburgeo and Advisor to President on International Co-operation, M/s OGIC, Batyr A Geldyev, President of M/s Ross, Russian Federation, Nikolay N Velikorechin, General Manager Drilling and Exploration, Siburgeo, Moscow, Alexander V Tokarev, senior geologist and drilling expert, Siburgeo, Grigory N Klimenok, chief engineer, pipeline construction projects M/s Ross Moscow, Roman B Geldyev, senior design expert, oil and gas projects, Siburgeo.
