Apparently, it's an encouraging factor for the new generation that the government is providing it chances to attend several seminars and functions to improve the economic and social condition of the nation, especially the steps being taken for women empowerment.
Adversely, it came under observation that at several functions, including World Social Forum (WSF), which was held in the middle of March, most of the visitors were looking at some strange objects due to lack of co-ordination among some members of the installed stalls.
It was visible that most of the stall owners were not able to help the poor fellows who came to keenly visit the site to achieve knowledge about the products and facilities introduced at the forums and seminars.
Several other seminars, which were held in past to attract visitors or small entrepreneurs, left the impact of negligence, but this time Karachiites were hoping for better and business-friendly atmosphere at 'Women's Expo' seminar.
It was very much disgusting for the general public, who had waited for long for these occasions, to avail the latest information and chances to display their products to start businesses at domestic or small levels, but in vain.
The women belonging to poor class are not able to run their business or get credit or loans from the banks and other institutions, if they have no big sources or providers of guarantees.
It's very strange to know that when one can make textile goods and several other products at domestic level why the process of applying for loans or credits is not made easy.
It appears that those who have big sources and financiers can apply for bank loans as they easily can meet the terms and requirements.
Some women from the interior said that they covered the long distances and spent much money to reach Karachi to sell embroidery suits, bed sheets and many items, which looked very pretty and well, but stall owners were offering them very low prices.
"We are investing our labour, time and money and gain only a few rupees, while after purchasing from us they sell these products at very high rates at different seminars. But who is taking profits from these seminars? Not we, because we are poor and can not approach the proper persons."
A group of businesswomen, who live in Karachi, also complain of the same situation. They had joined the Mela, arranged by the Association of Business, Profession and Agriculture Women on the occasion of Women's Day. They said that if the ladies who buy precious dresses, on quality basis, from different costly markets, "they can buy such products of the same quality from us at comparatively lower rates although our products are not inferior."
The government should make the process easy and increase facilities to help the poorer class and many others who are working hard day and night, but are not getting concessions because of difficult and complicated paper work.
The 'Women Expo' is providing women a great chance to gather under one roof to avail the chance to create awareness among women and how they can make them financially strong.
They insist that the women should get chances for their improvement. their products may prove better than the items of others. Their products may get a share in increasing exports, because they are value-added products.
It may lead to increase exports to meet the demand of international markets by developing trade skills, raising productivity, and upgrading the management skills and human capital.
