Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has resumed water supply to the city areas through alternate system of K-III project to ease the situation.
The water supply to Karachi city was suspended after 72-inch diameter pipeline supplying water from Dhabeji burst.
According to Karachi Water and Sewerage Board officials the pipeline supplying water to Karachi burst near Dhabeji in the night between Friday and Saturday during power outage. The concrete rising main No: 2 burst all of sudden and the entire pump house was filled with water.
The water supply to the city here was immediately stopped and the repair works of the damaged pipeline was in progress. Managing Director, KWSB Brigadier Iftikhar Haider himself was supervising the work.
It may be recalled that Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan had inaugurated test operation of K-III project for supplying additional 100MGD water to Karachi last week.
