A delegation of Saudi Arabia, headed by Osama Jafar Faquih, President of General Auditing Bureau (GAB), on Tuesday visited the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to discuss matters pertaining to audit, accountability and tax-related issues, including revamping of the tax machinery.
The GAB President was accompanied by Ibrahim Ali Albaghdadi, DG, Auditing Bureau (Companies and Corporations), Abdulrahman Bin Ahmad Al Ajlan, DG, President's Office, and Rashad Bin Ameen Gasim, Secretary to the President.
The delegation was briefed by Member, Direct Taxes, Salman Nabi about the working of CBR, improvement in revenue collection and ongoing reform process. DG Inspection and Audit (Direct Taxes), Usman Khalid Mirza, DG Inspection and Internal Audit (Custom and Federal Excise) Muhammad Ramzan Bhatti and DG Intelligence and Investigation of Customs and Excise Usman Shah also briefed the participants about their areas of jurisdiction.
Both sides discussed matters pertaining to mutual interests including working of the tax machinery, audit, accountability and implementation of reform projects.
The delegation was also briefed on CBR's efforts to simplify procedures for bringing transparency and efficiency in tax collection process.
The directors-general briefed about the use of audit as an effective tool to detect cases of gross violations of rules and regulations.
D G Intelligence and Investigation informed the delegation about steps taken to improve process of accountability and integrity management.
The leader of the Saudi delegation thanked the CBR team for briefing on revenue collection, audit, inspection including reforms and the hospitality extended to the delegation.
CBR Member Administration Iftikhar Ahmad was also present on this occasion.
