Former Punjab governor and a PPPP leader Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar has said that only political leadership can safeguard the country, and asked the President of Pakistan to allow Benazir Bhutto and Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to come back to the country.
Addressing a function of Peoples' Lawyer Forum held to mark the death anniversary of Zulifqar Ali Bhutto, here on Tuesday, he said that federation of Pakistan was in danger while only Benazir Bhutto could maintain unity in the country.
He said that present rulers could not resolve the problems being faced by the country, as they were puppets of a dictator and they had no roots in the public.
He asked General Musharraf to come out of dreams and accept the ground reality that the present political leaders had no capability to steer the country out of crisis.
He urged the government to withdraw all the cases registered against Benazir Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari and allow them to participate in the next general elections. He said that an independent election commissioner be appointed to hold free and fair general elections in the country.
