New Zealand share prices closed 0.62 percent higher on Wednesday as top stock Telecom pulled the market to a record finish for a ninth consecutive day, dealers said.
The NZX-50 gross index added 23.4 points at 3,762.95 on turnover worth 141.62 million New Zealand dollars (85.7 million US).
Top stock Telecom appeared to be playing catch-up as it pulled the market forward with a 10 cent rise to 5.72 dollars, said Grant Williamson, a partner at Hamilton, Hindin, Greene. Fisher and Paykel Appliances was up five cents to 4.25 and Fisher and Paykel Healthcare up two cents at 4.18.
