The Interior Ministry on Thursday announced the cancellation of all arms licenses issued to Sardar Akhtar Mengal. "The Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, has decided that all arms licenses issued to Sardar Akhtar Mengal by the Federal Government and provinces are hereby cancelled," a ministry statement said.
The decision has been taken on the basis of abduction of persons belonging to a law enforcing agency, their manhandling and illegal confinement at his (Mengal's) residence, it added.
The Interior Ministry warned that if any arms licence holder violated law, his or her licence immediately would be cancelled.
