NWFP Minister for Health Inayatullah has expressed satisfaction over the pace of development work in the health sector and asked the concerned authorities to accelerate efforts for completing all schemes approved in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) before the end of the current fiscal year.
He was presiding over a high level meeting convened to review the developmental activities in the sector at Health Secretariat Peshawar on Friday. Health Secretary Abdus Samad Khan, Additional Secretary Health Younis Javed and Dr Hameed attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that among 132 schemes, reflected in the current ADP, 113 were ongoing, while 19 were new. The meeting was briefed that among ongoing schemes only 5 schemes were awaiting for approval.
Similarly, informing the meeting about status of the new schemes, it was disclosed that eight schemes were waiting for approval while the rest had already been sanctioned.
Lauding the overall performance of the development sector, the health minister asked for further acceleration of work to get the schemes completed well and in-time. Similarly, the meeting was told that a summary for establishment of state of the art children institutes at Hayatabad, Peshawar had been sent to the chief minister for formal approval.
The minister also ordered constitution of a committee comprising Additional Secretary Health Younis Javed and Dr Ejaz to look after the project. Moreover, he asked for submitting a case to the provincial cabinet for strengthening four different teams already constituted to curb absenteeism in public sector hospitals of the province.
The meeting also deliberated over proper utilisation of the land of Benazir Hospital after vacation of the stay order. Similarly, he asked the concerned authorities to speed up work for provision of electricity to Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital DI Khan to make it functional as earlier as possible.
