The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) has decided to arrange "Export Trophy Award" for top ten rice exporters to appreciate their services for increasing the country's export. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will be the chief guest on this occasion.
According to the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap), the Export Trophy Awards would be given to top ten rice exporters, who remained on top in rice export during the fiscal 2003-04.
Reap Chairman Haji Abdul Majeed, while talking to Business Recorder here on Saturday, said that the aim of holding this ceremony was to appreciate the services of those rice exporters, who did a lot to increase the country's rice exports, value addition of this commodity and explore new markets for Pakistani rice.
He said the export trophy award would be given to the top ten rice exporters, who exported more rice in the year 2003-04. He said gold medal would be given to a rice exporter, who obtained highest price of Pakistani rice during the said period. Gold medal would also be given to a rice exporter, who explored new market for the export of Pakistani rice in this season, he added.
He said that Reap has always been trying to provide more chances and facilities to the rice exporters so that the country's exports could boost and new markets could be captured to sell this commodity. Haji Abdul Majeed pointed out that the country's rice exports had crossed the mark of $1 billion in the current crop season and it was expected that this figure would be reached to $1.2 billion by the end of this fiscal year while the total rice export was recorded $933 million during the last fiscal year.
Many new markets, including China, Central Asian States and others have been opened to export Pakistani rice.
