Marghoob Ahmed Khetran, provincial chief of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), on Monday rejected any links with the 40 'guerrillas' and their two commanders who surrendered to the authorities in Balochistan on Saturday.
Talking to newsmen on telephone, he said that Baloch volunteers had been fighting for their just 'right' on the natural resources, but rejected the government's claim of having any commando-like establishment headed by Akbar Bugti. "Nor they are fighting against the state."
Khetran said that those militants were wanted for killing a DIG and were running a gang involved in kidnappings for ransom.
He said that the Baloch volunteers were fighting the government to defend and demand their logical control over natural gas of Dera Bugti, oil resources of Kohlu and the 780 km coast of Gwadar.
He said that there was a misconception that JWP has running a guerrilla establishment. He also denied any links with Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has been banned by the government for its involvement in terrorist-related activities.
He condemned the registration of terrorist cases against Baloch leaders. He said that these 40 suspected tribesmen were 'robbers', and Sindh and Balochistan police had nominated a few of them as criminals. The police for their arrest had fixed head money as well.
The JWP spokesman said that the government had suffered a psychological defeat in this 'war' in Balochistan due to which it had started propaganda against Baloch leaders to malign their just movement. He also offered to initiate again the dialogue to resolve the Balochistan imbroglio, politically.
