The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli has said that government is looking into the involvement of Benazir Bhutto (BB) in the 'Oil for Food' scam and any decision in this regard would be taken in accordance with the law.
"There is no question of political victimisation, courts of Pakistan are free and government would not influence judiciary," Tahirkheli said while talking to media men here on Monday.
She said that Benazir and Nawaz Sharif should come back to Pakistan and face the courts. She said that every politician has a legitimate right to join any political party. "Khalid Lund had many apprehensions about Peoples Party Patriot, so he left the party. But there is nothing to worry about because he joined our allied party," she added.
Tahirkheli said that opposition has only one point agenda and that is to topple the government but as a matter of fact all the authority is with President Musharraf for strengthening democracy, continuity of policies and institutionalisation in the country.
Earlier, addressing the seminar on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi and 63rd commemoration day of Anjuman-e-Faiz-ul-Islam Rawalpindi, she said that the Muslim should get guidelines from the Holy Quran to face the challenges of modern times. She said that madaris are biggest NGOs but government would not allow any one to use these institutions for there nefarious designs. The State Minister said that to mainstream madaris, the government has started their registration.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Mehmood Ali said that unity among people of Pakistan was need of hour to protect the country from in and outside threats.
On the occasion former Ambassador Dr S. M. Qureshi, renowned Islamic scholar Dr Muhammad Ghazali, Dr Riaz Akhtar, Mian Sadiq Akbar, Hafiz S. A. Rehman, and Professor Niaz Irfan urged the people to adopt the Islamic way of life.
