Political and religious parties as well as trade unions have vehemently condemned the Tuesday evening bomb blast at Nishtar Park in Karachi during the Jashan-i-Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebration, and termed it a conspiracy to foment sectarian strife.
They said the blast that took the lives of 58 people was a failure of the government to provide security and safety to the citizens.
PPP leaders Khalid Hanif Lodhi, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan, Salim-ur-Rehman Mayo, Tariq Raza Khan have condemned the bomb blast and expressed sorrow and grief over the death of Maulana Abbas Qadri, Haji Hanif Bilue, Hafiz Taqi, Iftikhar Bhatti, Maulana Akram Qadri, and others.
MMA leaders Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori, Rao Zafar Iqbal, Maulana Rasheed Ahmed Ludhiyanvi, Ayyub Mughal have accused America of the Nishtar Park bomb blast incident , saying it wants to make Muslims get embroiled in sectarian violence so that they may not resist an American attack on Iran.
They said that America and its allies had launched an unholy war on Muslims all over the world. Now, they have hatched a big conspiracy and detonated a bomb in Nishtar Park, Karachi, in which a large number of Sunnis and their scholars were targeted. They hoped this incident also would not ignite sectarian violence because the people know who is their real enemy.
MMA leader Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori has appealed to both the Sunnis and the Shias to demonstrate calm to fend off conspiracies against Muslims.
Punjab PML-N President Zulfikar Khan Khosa, former Senator Malik Rafiq Rajwana, Nafees Ahmed Ansari,MPA, said that it was the failure of the government to provide protection to the people celebrating the Holy Prophet's birthday at Nishtar Park, Karachi.
Multan PPP Women Wing leaders Saeeda Jamal Labar, Begum Sehrish Khan, and Begum Zubaida Khokhar have strongly condemned the heinous bomb blast which culminated in the Nishtar Park tragedy on 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The sanctity of the occasion had been marred by such atrocity was unacceptable, said MNA Begum Nasim Chaudhry.
The bomb blast, which came immediately after Faizan-e-Madina tragedy was yet another nail in the coffin of ineffective government, said Nasim, adding that in two days just Karachi had seen a hundred death while countless innocent sustained injuries.
She has questioned why the area around Nishtar Park had been devoid of law-enforcement personnel on April 11, although a massive gathering had been anticipated. One would expect the law-enforcement agencies to be particularly vigilant at such a time, but they were conspicuous in their absence, she commented.
The government, said Nasim, does not enjoy the people's confidence.
