Regional Commissioner of Income Tax (RCIT) Eastern Region Lahore Haji Ahmed said his region had taken the lead in disposal of highest number of cases pending at appellate tribunal level since long.
Out of total of 15,000 such cases of national level, 12,000 belonged to Lahore, which have been decided to the entire satisfaction of the stakeholders, he added. These cases have been decided in light of the policy directions of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR), he said.
To a question about Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) committees, he said the eastern region had been vigorously pursuing the concept of out of court settlement introduced by the CBR some time back.
ADR is an optional scheme and not mandatory. About its procedural requirements, he said if someone wanted to opt for out of court settlement he submitted an application to the CBR and in case of acceptance of the same, he could go for ADR. But in 95 per cent cases such requests for ADR are accepted by the CBR, he pointed out.
