Administrative judge of anti terrorism courts in Karachi on Friday sent four employees of former chief minister of Balochistan Sardar Akhtar Mengal, allegedly involved in army personnel hostage-taking case, to jail, and directed the investigation officer to submit charge-sheet against them on April 21.
Nasarullah Mengal, Ghulam Hyder Langah alias Chappar, Mehboob Ali Satti and Ghulam Qadir, employees of Akhtar Mengal, were produced before Justice Khilji Arif Hussain of Sindh High Court amid tight security.
Akhtar Mengal, who is also chief of Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and other unidentified persons were declared absconding co-accused in remand paper, submitted by the police before the court.
Police alleged Sardar Akhtar Mengal, along with others, on April 5 kidnapped army Havaldar Qurban Hussain and Lance Naik Fayaz Ahmed, who were on their intelligence duty, from Darakhshan area in Karachi with the intention to kill them.
Complainant of case Qurban Hussain submitted in the first information report (FIR) they were made hostage at the house of Akhtar Mengal in Khayban-e-Shamsher area of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Karachi, for two hours and were subjected to torture.
He said Akhtar Mengal directed his men to kill them and send their bodies to army. However, he said, they were managed to flee after siege of the house by police and law-enforcement agencies.
The FIR was lodged against the accused under various sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The accused were produced before the court after expiry of their seven-day police remand. The judge, sending the accused to jail, directed the investigation officer to submit charge sheet against them on April 21.
