US soyabean plantings will be as much as 700,000 to 800,000 acres lower than estimated by the US Agriculture Department, private consultant Informa Economics said on Wednesday.
At its spring conference, Informa Vice President Jim Sullivan said higher prices might pull an additional 500,000 acres into corn.
"The majority of that will come out of soyabeans," he said.
Wheat sowings in the northern Plains also may climb by 150,000 to 200,000 acres from the level indicated in USDA's prospective plantings report on March 31, due to stronger wheat prices, he said.
Soyabean plantings could drop by as much as 700,000 to 800,000 acres as a result, Sullivan added.
