A delegation of Shanghai Corporation (Asia) led by its President Gaver Ching visited the Port Qasim here on Saturday. Company Directors Ms Snow F N Lee and Khoo Wee Meng included the mission, says the press release from Port Qasim Authority.
Shanghai Corporation (Asia) Co Ltd is a world-renowned corporation and holds a dominant position in the fields of industrial building projects, petrochemicals, micro-electric, telecommunications, motor vehicles, aviation industry and machinery. The delegation held productive discussions on the investment projects and various other matters of mutual interest with the Port Qasim Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi.
PQA Chief briefed the delegation about the up-gradation and expansion of the operational and cargo handling facilities besides high growth in industrial and commercial activity around the port.
The development projects included deepening and the widening of the navigation channel, construction of LPG Terminal, Water Trade Centre, second Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal.
Port Qasim currently catering to more than 40 per cent of the total shipping requirements of the country. Cargo handling and ship callings at the Port increased by 32 per cent and 36 per cent respectively over a period of two years.
