Sui Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL) Managing Director Abdul Rashid Loan has said that Pakistan is full of natural resources, there are sufficient reservoirs of natural resources like natural gas and petroleum.
Pakistan was enriched with natural resources and the impression, being given by certain quarters that reservoirs of natural gas were decreasing sharply, was totally baseless, he said.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Sunday, he said that extraordinary efforts were being made to enhance the existing reservoirs by exploring new reservoirs of oil and gas. At present, 32 companies were searching new oil and gas reservoirs in various parts of the country, he said, and expected that huge reservoirs would be traced.
Under the directives of the government, he said, the SNGP had evolved a strategy for providing maximum Sui gas connections to the domestic, commercial and industrial consumers in the country.
Lone said that under the direction of the government, SNGP was making strenuous efforts to provide gas facility to a maximum number of cities and adjoining villages of the country.
New gas pipelines were being laid in different areas for providing new connections to the domestic, commercial and industrial units in the country, he added.
At present, SGNP had provided 2.5 million domestic connections, 40,000 commercial and 3,500 industrial connections, as a result of which more than 25 million consumers were enjoying the facility, he disclosed.
Lone also disclosed that SGNP had provided the gas facility to 800 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations countrywide as a result of which a large number of vehicles had been converted to CNG system.
The rapid conversion of vehicles on CNG system would not only save the petroleum, but would also help reduce the pollution load in the country, he added.
