Wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were higher early on Tuesday, following the Kansas City market in a mild recovery after Monday's steep declines, traders said.
As of 10:25 am CDT (1525 GMT), CBOT May wheat was up 2-1/2 cents at $3.52 per bushel, with July up 2-3/4 at $3.65-1/4. O'Connor and Co and Prudential each bought 100 July contracts, traders said.
In Kansas City, most-active July was up 7 at $4.50.
A drop in US wheat condition ratings was supportive. The USDA late Monday said 39 percent of the US winter wheat crop was in good to excellent condition, down from 41 percent a week ago and the year-ago level of 69 percent.
