April 19- NWFP Departmental Selection Committee has so far recommended 5463 officers and officials from BPS-2 to BPS-21 for promotion with effect from January 1, 2003 to date, including 1852 officers in BPS-17 and above and 3611 below BPS-17.
In a statement issued from the NWFP Establishment Department, it has been identified that this is the biggest number of promotions in history of the NWFP and the credit goes to the NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani and the NWFP Chief Secretary Ijaz Ahmad Qureshi for materialising promotions of the provincial cadre officers and officials in such a large number.
The statement revealed that in officer cadre the highest number of promotions were made in the school and literacy, higher education, agriculture, livestock and co-operatives and health sectors.
It may be recalled that since the government of MMA has come to power in the province, its leadership has taken much interest in the solution of problems of the government employees and these promotions were made to encourage them.
The grade wise promotions from January 1, 2003 to date is in such a ratio that total number of 135 employees in BPS-2 got promotions during the period. The other grade wise promotions are: BPS-3 (12 employees), BPS-4 (35), BPS-5 (178), BPS-6 (63), BPS-7 (439), BPS-8 (43), BPS-9 (136), BPS-10 (32), BPS-11 (256), BPS-12 (17), BPS-13 (9), BPS-14 (46), BPS-15 (90), BPS-16 (484), BPS-17 (1788), BPS-18 (993), BPS-19 (562), BPS-20 (133), BPS-21 (12).In overall 1788 BPS-17 officers of different departments got promotions during the period while 993 officers in BPS-18, 562 in BPS-19, 133 in BPS-20 and 12 officers working in BPS-21 were promoted to higher grades.
