While referring to esteem daily, The Business Recorder, it was indeed very heartening to learn the views of Hafeez Sheikh, former minister for privatisation about the size of the government.
There can never be two opinions about his statement but it would have been much better if this statement was delivered when he was minister or Chairman of the Planning Commission.
At that time it might have been taken to our hearts while presently it is heart-burning particularly when he says that the Quaid-i-Azam's government was composed of only 5 members and perhaps Ayub Khan also used to have comparatively a small cabinet.
Hafeez Shaikh is not presently in government, therefore, he has forgotten that the government honestly wishes to reduce poverty from Pakistan hence it has provided jobs to some of its devoted workers as ministers etc. Therefore, we should not criticise this noble job.
However, the statement given by Hafeez Sheikh is not owned by him alone but on the contrary almost every educated and well-wisher of Pakistan prays that the Almighty Allah bless this wisdom to the governing managers of Pakistan too.
While saluting Sheikh we can only say that "coming late is better than never coming." May we hope that if God blesses him with a partnership with the government managers then he should not forget this idea.
