Morocco's state grain agency ONICL said on Thursday it awarded licences to import 95,000 tonnes of European Union milling wheat. ONICL's tender had closed on Tuesday for bids for licences to import 115,000 tonnes of milling wheat.
It said the shipment date will be up to May 31, adding that Agadir port will receive 15,000 tonnes of the purchase while the remaining 80,000 tonnes will be loaded at other Moroccan ports.
ONICL named the trading houses which won the licences as Somacereal, Uncam, Millex, Cargill Maroc and Gromic.
The wheat will be shipped under preferential import duties as agreed in a farm deal with the EU.
In its previous import tender on January 26, ONICL granted licences to import 315,000 tonnes of EU milling wheat after seeking bids to import 350,000 tonnes.
