International Monetary Fund chief Rodrigo Rato said on Thursday he will this weekend propose adhoc increases in the quotas paid to the IMF by some emerging economic powers, changes that will help boost voting rights of these countries at the Fund.
"My proposal will be around an adhoc increase and that, of course, means that some countries will adapt ... to their actual weight in the world economy," Rato told a news conference ahead of the IMF's semi-annual meetings on Saturday and Sunday. "There are clear examples of countries that have really changed in the last 15 years."
