Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday announced Rs 250 millions developmental package for the provincial metropolis. The amount would be spent on supplying gas and electricity to the residents of the city suburbs.
Addressing the PML workers' convention in connection with the centenary celebrations of the party at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium, the Prime Minister said the federal government would provide gas and electricity facility to each and every corner of the district. He said a comprehensive plane had been prepared to provide clean drinking water to the people of Peshawar.
Talking about mega projects like Diamir Bhasha and Ghomal Zam dams, Shaukat Aziz said it would help provide cheap electricity to the people of NWFP.
"Development process has been started in the country and for the speedy development of this province, a network of roads has been established," he added.
The Prime Minister said that today's Pakistan was totally different of the one, which was in debt some seven years back at the time when President Musharraf and his team started their struggle to improve the status of the country.
"The country is now marching towards progress and development and will lead Pakistan towards prosperity if peoples' support continued with us," he observed.
He said that PML and its allies would return successful in the general elections scheduled in 2007. Similarly, he also predicted victory of PML in NWFP also.
Pointing towards earthquake-affected taking part in the PML's convention, the Prime Minister said government of Pakistan would help earthquake stricken people of NWFP, saying besides constructing homes each and every facility would be given to them.
Addressing the convention, PML Central President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said the party believed in democracy adding it was quite clear that MMA was ruling the province, as PML did not destabilise it. He said PML would defeat MMA in the next elections and people of the province not be hoodwinking in the name of Islam.
He said the PML - the founding party of the country, would be further organised at gross root level to regain its lost popularity in the masses.
Earlier, PML Provincial Chief Amir Muqam said PML would defeat MMA and the ANP in the coming election. "Our performance in the LB election as well as in the Senate has proven that PML is a big political force of the Province," he claimed.
He urged the Prime Minster Shaukat Aziz to visit other districts of the province and announced development packages for the masses.
He asked Prime Minster not to ignore Peshawar, where he was addressing the first public meeting as Prime Minister.
