A steady flow of visitors continued pouring into the large Pakistani pavilion and business meetings were held throughout the day, according to a message received here from Hannover on Wednesday.
Numerous meetings were held between Pakistani and European companies originating into productive trade inquiries at the Pakistani booths on the second day of the Hannover Messe 2006 being held here from April 24 to 28.
Meetings held between Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives Jahangir Khan Tareen and the Federation of German Industries and BDI President Jurgen R Thumann and Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport of Niedersachen Minister Walter Hirche. The meeting between Jahangir Khan Tareen and the Federation of German Industries President and his delegation remained most fruitful.
Matters of bilateral and technical co-operation between the two countries and maintenance of international standards and joint venture agreements between Pakistani and German companies were discussed for immediate implementation. Trade visits between companies of both countries have also been scheduled.
"We see many possibilities of business collaboration and exchange of information between Pakistani and German companies. That included sharing of technical knowledge and visits of senior executives to each other's countries to explore new areas of investment opportunities.
"I am sure there are many German companies that would like to explore the engineering sector in Pakistan", opined Thumann while talking to the media after the conclusion of the meeting-Minister Tareen.
While elaborating on Pakistan's participation at the Hannover Fair and development of the engineering sector, he said, "This year we have doubled our participation due to the success of the last event, and we intend continuing with this pace next year.
On the local front, we have encouraged the engineering sector to venture into international markets and have also set-up a special Technology Up-gradation & Skills Development Company (Tusdec) to enhance the skills of our human resource".
In another meeting with Walter Hirche from the Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport of Niedersachen, Jahangir Khan Tareen said, "We have renewed our earlier meetings with the industries of Niedersachsen and look forward to exchange of business opportunities between Pakistan and the companies of this developed German region.
Later in the day, IDIADA Automotive Technology SA, a Spanish global engineering group made an impressive presentation to the Minister and CEO-EDB to seek collaboration between Spanish and Pakistani companies. The group provides complete solutions for automotive development projects world-wide.
Earlier, the minister also visited Pakistani exhibitors in Power Generation (Hall 11) and Factory Automation (Hall 12) and appreciated the interest and enthusiasm amongst the Pakistani companies.
He assured the exhibitors of the Ministry's continued commitment to support the engineering sector in order to achieve manufacturing excellence.
The Hannover Fair is the world's largest assembly of manufacturers and innovators of new technologies where more than 6,000 exhibitors from 75 countries converge to display their products. Pakistani exhibitors are showing their prowess in the Subcontracting, Power Generation and Factory Automation halls.
