Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday said the present government was committed to carry forward development projects in the country and provide all basic amenities at their doorstep.
He was addressing here at a reception in his honour by former minister Raees Munir Ahmed here at Bhong. The Prime Minister said seven years back the economy of the country was in a terrible state and with a series of structural reforms, it has been brought back from the brink of disaster.
He said farmers were the backbone of the national economy and the government was committed to provide them all facilities like irrigation water, fertilisers and seed.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said work on the water reservoirs has started and will usher in an economic revolution. He said the government will build all large dams to meet the shortage of irrigation water and make the country self-sufficient in food.
He also announced provision of sui gas, water supply and sanitation schemes, clean drinking water for the area.
He said by the year 2007 all villages, with a population of over 1000 people will get electricity. This, he said, will help bring in a positive change in the lives of the common villagers.
The Prime Minister said the Pakistan Muslim League under the leadership of its President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was getting stronger by the day and said it will succeed in the next elections, with a thumping majority.
He urged the PML workers to forge unity amongst their ranks and files and work for the welfare of the masses with dedication with Quaid-e-Azams moto of Unity, Faith and Discipline.
He said Rs 150 million have been sanctioned for Sadiqabad and said more will be given, if more projects are brought forward.
