Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri on Sunday warned against any use of force against Iran to settle the row over its controversial nuclear programme, saying that it would hurt moderate forces in the Islamic world.
"Pakistan desires a peaceful resolution to the issue as, God forbid, if there is an attack on Iran, it will be a blow to moderate forces in the Islamic world," he said while talking to reporters at the concluding session of 'South Asian Journal Conference'.
He said that any use of force against Iran would benefit the extremist forces. "Attack on Iran will be considered an attack on yet another Muslim country, which will not be in the interest of international peace, and also the western world," he cautioned.
Clarifying a news report, which misquoted him on his interview to BBC, Kasuri said he had stated that population-wise, Pakistan would be the fourth largest country in the world in 2030, and all arguments given to justify co-operation with India in peaceful use of nuclear energy also held good for Pakistan.
