All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) and Pak-China Media Friendship Association (PCMFA) will soon undertake joint media exchange and study programmes helping the journalists' community enhancing professional skill and know-how to project events and developments in their respective countries in true perspective.
An understanding to this effective was arrived at a meeting held here on Sunday between ACJA's Director General Zhu Yinghua and PCMFA Chairman Makhdoom Babar.
The two sides agreed in principle to cooperate in arranging media's seminars on Sino-Pak friendship. They discussed ways and means for holding joint training programmes to enhance professional caliber of the media personnel in the areas of their special interest. It was agreed that the journalists who come up with special writings boosting Sino-Pak friendship should be given special commendation awards with a cash prize on annual basis.
The ACJA is a nation-wide most effective media institution in the country to promote the cause of journalism. Its predecessor was Chinese Association of Young Journalists founded in Shanghai on November 8, 1937. Working as non-governmental organisation, it has 223 local journalists associations and more than 7,50,000 journalists as its members.
With the development of journalism, the association plays an increasingly role in domestic affairs and international exchanges, develops friendly relations with media personnel from 130 countries and regions.
The Association had been carrying out regular media exchange programmes with Pakistan for a quite sometime since beginning. However, in the recent years, its interaction with the Pakistani counterparts was suspended.
Zhu Yinghua said the Association was seriously considering restoring its media's exchange programme with the Pakistani side. He hoped that their collaboration with Pak-China Media Friendship Forum would help to bring the journalists of the two countries closer to each other promoting common causes.
