Three Afghan soldiers killed in explosion

Three Afghan soldiers were killed and three wounded Sunday when a roadside bomb ripped through their vehicle in troubled southern Afghanistan, the military said.
The vehicle was attacked in Girishk district of Helmand province, General Rahmatullah Raufi, the southern region military corps commander, told AFP.
Raufi blamed the attack on the "enemies of Afghanistan", a term used to refer to the Taleban who were forced from power in late 2001 by a US-led offensive.
In southern Ghazni province two Taleban were killed in an attack early Sunday, said provincial police chief Abdul Rehman Sarjang. He said the Taleban attacked the police headquarters in Giro district but fled after a two-hour firefight, leaving two bodies behind. Police also seized some light weapons, Sarjang said.
