The financial and stock markets both in Asia and Europe were closed on Monday to mark Labour Day. UK markets are also closed for a holiday. Following are markets, which remain closed on Monday. The trading will resume on Tuesday:
SHANGHAI: China's foreign exchange and stock markets and Shanghai's futures exchange will be closed through May 7 for the week-long Labour Day break. Trading on the markets will resume on Monday, May 8.
The yuan at 8.0140 versus the dollar on Friday, April 28, the last trading day ahead of the holiday.
SEOUL: South Korean financial markets are closed on Monday to mark Labour Day. They reopen on Tuesday. The main stock market's KOSPI index fell 2.26 percent to 1,419.73 points on Friday, although it is up 2.9 percent so far this year.
The won rose 0.16 percent to 943.4 per dollar on Friday, taking its gain this year to 7.2 percent. The yield on the benchmark five-year treasury bond fell eight basis points on Friday to close at 4.98 percent.
HONG KONG: Hong Kong's stock and financial markets are closed on Monday for a public holiday. Trading resumes Tuesday.
TAIPEI: Taiwan financial markets are closed on Monday for Labour Day and will resume trade on Tuesday, May 2. On Friday, Taiwan's main TAIEX share index rose 0.5 percent to a 5-1/2 year closing high, led by chip packaging firms after the government allowed them to build plants in China. The Taiwan dollar ended firmer at T$31.913 to the US dollar, falling back from the day's high of T$31.830, its strongest level since April 4.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian financial markets are closed on Monday for a public holiday. They will reopen on Tuesday.
MANILA: Financial markets in the Philippines are closed on Monday for a public holiday. Trading will resume Tuesday.
MUMBAI: Indian stock markets and banks are closed on Monday in the financial capital Mumbai for a public holiday. Trading resumes Tuesday.
