The Supreme Council of All Pakistan Transporters (SCAPT) and the Pakistan Transport Federation (PTF) have vehemently criticised hike in petroleum prices and demanded of the government to reverse the recent increase.
"If the recent increase in petroleum prices was not taken back, goods transporters would be compelled to close down their business", SCAPT Co-ordinator Malik Riaz Awan, who is also the PTF president, sought this reversal in petroleum prices in a statement here on Tuesday.
From January 2005 to December 2006, he said, petroleum prices were increased by an average of Rs 10 per liter, he said, adding the SCAPT has been demanding the reduction in petroleum prices, but the government increased the oil prices unprecedentedly on May 01, 2006, which added immense miseries to transport sector as well impacted the common man.
