Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday said that Pakistan Muslim League government is proud of its achievements and added that it will contest the forthcoming general elections on the basis of its performance.
Talking to two delegations of MNAs of PML belonging to Southern Punjab and Balochistan, the Prime Minister said the PML will contest election under united electoral front along with its allied parties.
President PML Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Secretary General, Mushahid Hussain Syed were also present. Shaukat said that PML and allied parties should forge unity in their ranks and faith in its enviable record to become a truly formidable force to face the challenge posed by any political party or a combination of parties during the next election.
The Prime Minister said that for the first time in the country's history, parliament is poised to complete its full term. Parliamentary activities are in full swing in the country and the press is free to express its views, he added.
Shaukat Aziz said the economic recovery achieved by the country as a result of the success of its reforms agenda has enabled the government to divert funds to development schemes.
The government is now focusing on transferring the benefits of growth to common man to improve their living standards, the Prime Minister said.
The government will allocate more funds for the Khushal Pakistan Programme under which more development projects like farm-to-market roads, health and educational facilities and the provision of electricity will be initiated throughout the country, he added.
