Sindh Adviser for Livestock and Fisheries, Fakir Mohammed Jadam Mangrio has divulged a plan envisaging the construction of cattle colonies on 200 acres of land in 14 districts and three towns of Sindh.
On the directives of Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, all facilities would be provided in these colonies under a one-window system, he said while talking to journalists here on Tuesday.
He said the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Minister had repeatedly desired the development of livestock sector for bringing improvement in the living style of people.
He explained that a 200-acre cattle colony would have residential colony on 50 acres, roads to market, feed plant, milk plant, slaughter house, chilling plant, bio-gas, veterinary hospital, training center, health center, police post and other basic necessities.
Mangrio said the project objective was to provide technical and other modern facilities to cattle breeders to help raise milk and meat production. He said that directives had been issued to DCOs to submit feasibility reports and land availability within a week.
Fakir Jadam said that 14 districts where these cattle colonies would be established are Mithi, Tando Allahyar, Nawabshah, Larkana, Khairpur, Badin Mirpurkhas, Matiari, Jamshoro, Sanghar Sukkur, Shikarpur, besides towns of Naokot, Shadi Larj and Kaloi.
The project, he stated, would involve an amount of several billions of rupees and its execution with the co-operation of federal and district governments would be a big source of employment generation.
