The Controller General of Accounts Iftikhar Ahmed Khan on Wednesday handed over cheques worth Rs 8.7 million as honoraria announced by the Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan for officers and officials of Accountant General Sindh Karachi and District Accounts officers of the province.
During visit to the offices of AG Sindh in August 2005, the Governor had announced the award as a token of appreciation for performance of AG Sindh, which was later approved by the Chief Minister Sindh Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.
The AG Sindh Zulfikar Ali Kadri while speaking on the occasion called upon the officers to invest best inputs for achieving distinctive results.
He thanked the officers to work with great zeal for increased efficiency although they showed good performance despite staff shortage.
The Chief Guest Controller General of Account Iftikhar Ahmed Khan exhorted the subordinate officers to accept the changing scenario in view of computerisation of district account offices under the project to improve financial reporting and auditing.
He said it would be great advantage if the officers and officials of DAOs work day in and day out for successful computerisation of accounting mechanism in Sindh.
He appreciated the efforts of officials of the AG Sindh including district accounts offices under the guidance of present AG Zulfiqar Ali Kadri.
Controller General of Accounts and AG Sindh thanked the Governor, Chief Minister, Finance Minister and Secretary Finance for their co-operation.
Later, Controller General Iftikhar Ahmed Khan distributed cheques among the district accounts offices.
