Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that emphasis is being laid on ensuring teaching and research environment in universities and other educational institutions in the province.
"In this regard the community participation and monitoring is imperative", the governor said while talking to Dr S.M. Qureshi, Chairman Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee who met him at Governor House on Saturday. Additional Secretary Major Aftab Lodhi was also present on the occasion.
Dr S.M. Qureshi apprised the governor about his report concerning inspections of various universities, the ongoing teaching in universities, research and development projects and presented his recommendations for bringing about improvement in this regard.
He exchanged views with the governor regarding inspections of private sector universities and degree awarding institutes and their grading in relation to facilities and performance.
The governor appreciated the efforts of Dr S.M. Qureshi and his interest in the promotion of educational standard. He observed that objective of inspections of private sector institutes is not to place any restriction or create hurdles for any institute, but to ensure improvement in quality and provide co-operation.
Meanwhile, talking to a women delegation of FPCCI, the governor pointed out that women are being given their due status in every field.
