President Pervez Musharraf held a meeting on Saturday with senior political leaders of the ruling party, three district nazims and parliamentarians for these districts and reviewed development schemes in their areas.
The leaders apprised the president about their experiences and interaction between local government and parliamentarians both at the federal and provincial levels.
Musharraf showed satisfaction with the functioning of district government and hoped that elected representatives and district nazims would continue to work with same spirit a close co-operation to ensure basic amenities to common people at their doorsteps.
The delegation that called on the president included the President of Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhary Shujaat Hussein, Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, Federal Ministers Major Tahir Iqbal(Retd), Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, Chairman Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly Malik Allah Yar Khan and District Nazims of Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Jhelum, Raja Javed Akhlas, Sardar Ghulam Abbas and Chaudhary Farrukh Altaf.
The federal ministers and district nazims briefed the president about various developmental schemes being carried out in their areas including link roads, gas, electricity, water and power schemes.
The district nazims said the people are appreciating the real change at the district level as the pace of development has accelerated in the rural areas because the schemes are prepared and approved at the local level.
