Pakistan has strongly denied the US State Department Co-ordinator for Counter-terrorism, Henry Crumpton's statement in Kabul that Pakistan was not making enough efforts to curb terrorism.
A private TV channel, quoted ISPR Director General Major-General Shaukat Sultan, who termed the allegations foolish. He said that such allegations were baseless and beyond the facts.
He said the allegation that al Qaeda leadership was hiding in Pakistan and Pakistan's government authorities were well aware of it was incorrect and unjustified. He said that Pakistan was frontline state against terrorism and doing its best in this regard.
Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao talking to a private news channel also contradicted the statement and said that Pakistan was doing its best to eliminate terrorism.
He expressed his astonishment over such statement negating the role of Pakistan in fight against terrorism. He said that if Pakistan had any information about Osama, al Qaeda or Taleban, it would have definitely taken action against them. If United States had informed about Osama Bin Laden, Pakistan would surely have taken action against Osama, he added.
