The Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has ruled out the appointment of an interim government and said that the present government will complete its tenure. Talking to reporters at a reception given to him by Nuzhat Pathan MPA, who has recently joined PML.
However, the reporters of national media were not permitted to cover the programme of the Chief Minister. Only a couple of TV channel reporters and one or two "favourite reporters" were allowed entry.
The CM said PML believed in democracy and service of the masses. He said, this was the reason that right from the lowest to the top cadre of the party, its office-bearers were regularly elected. Without naming any party, he said that there were some parties in the country who elected their office-bearers for life.
Responding to a question about the creation of a new district of Qasimabad, he said that these were the same people who had opposed the bifurcation of Hyderabad district who were now talking about the creation of Qasimabad district.
Nevertheless, he said, if the people raised the demand, it will be considered. He, however, made it clear that no decision will be taken which might create a gulf between the rural and the urban population.
Talking about differences among the local nazims, the Chief Minister said that difference of opinion was a part of democracy and added that these differences should not be linked with administrative decisions.
Later, Arbab visited and inaugurated party office in Qasimabad and unfurled the party flag. Addressing the gathering, he held out an assurance that Qasimabad taluka would be brought at par with other developed areas of the province.
He said, the problems of the under developed parts of Qasimabad will be resolved. Welcoming Nuzhat Pathan MPA in the folds of PML, he said that it was on account of the service of his party to common man that the workers and even the MPAs of other parties were joining PML.
Dr Arbab said that backwardness and poverty were not the fate of Sindh and added that his party was determined to eliminate this curse. Dr Badar Channa also spoke on the occasion.
Later, the Chief Minister met a delegation of the elected representatives of Hyderabad district led by the district nazim and taluka nazims, which specially included the UC nazims of rural taluka.
He stressed upon them to serve the people without any discrimination and evolve a comprehensive strategy to identify and resolve their problems.
He urged the Nazims to discard their petty differences and demonstrate unity in the larger interest of the people. He heard the problems of nazims and received applications of public interest and issued on the spot orders.
Sindh Home Minister, Rauf Ahmed Siddiqui, district nazim, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, district naib nazim, Zafar Rajput, MPAs Aslam Pervez, Naeem Ishtiaq and Nuzhat Pathan, district nazim Matiari, Mohammad Ali Shah Jamote, taluka nazim Qasimabad, Noor Mohammad Shoro, taluka nazim Hyderabad city, Javed Jabbar, taluka Nazim Latifabad Sabir Hussain, UC Nazims of Hyderabad taluka rural, Mohammad Thebo, Abbas Unnar, Shaikh Abdullah, Mir Sher Mohammad Talpur, Badar Memon and others were also present.
Later, the Sindh chief minister inaugurated the new block constructed in the regional police hospital Hyderabad in police lines where the reporters were invited.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has directed the officials of the agriculture department to set up a seed research committee for introducing new and powerful varieties of seeds.
The Chief Minister pointed out that his government had saved the seed corporation because it believed that when Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) could deliver the goods, as such reason why the Sindh Seed Corporation (SSC)could not function effectively.
Dr Rahim said that Sindh government has decided to allocate an amount of Rs 50 million to make the SSC effective and expressed the hope that within two years, the corporation will be able to prove its credibility. The Chief Minister said that the surplus staff of the corporation would be given golden handshake.
He also directed the officials of the agriculture department to appoint a vigilance committee to ensure the supply of standard seeds and fertilisers to the growers.
He said, the growers' representatives should also be included in this committee and strict action should be taken against the profiteers and the dealers, who were selling spurious and adulterated seeds and fertilisers.
