The city will be developed in an advanced commercial hub with enormous facilities for progress and prosperity. Syed Mustafa Kamal, City Nazim, City District Government Karachi (CDGK) said this while speaking at inaugural ceremony of third Plastic Printing & Packaging Pakistan and Foodtech Pakistan 2006 exhibition at Karachi Expo Centre here on Tuesday.
The exhibition opened with an encouraging participation of 200 companies from 19 different countries. China and India are participating with the largest representation in the event.
Syed Mustafa Kamal said that Pakistani products are outstanding and with due representation and marketing in the international arena they can compete with the best. This can be achieved through exhibitions like these, he added.
He said that Karachi is the driving engine of the country with two major seaports. He said that many under-passes and fly-overs are being constructed on various roads in the city and many important and busy roads would be made signal free by the next year.
He said that government is aware of the enormous business potential that this city has. The CDGK is facilitating the development of communication and business infrastructure with better roads, new fly-overs and underpasses.
City Nazim showed his immense pleasure at the outstanding support of the local and foreign exhibitors in coming forward for this event.
With the population of 18 million and generating 68 per cent of the total country's revenue, he remarked Karachi as a market, which can be benefited from immensely.
He invited the foreign delegates to invest in Pakistan and explore the potential of the city. Plastic Printing & Packaging Pakistan and Foodtech Pakistan 2006 was showcasing a latest trend-setting equipment all with comprehensive value to serve the closely integrated industries of Pakistan and the region.
The exhibition confirms the vast investment and business opportunities present in Pakistan regarding the food industry. City Nazim reinstated this while visiting the stalls setup in different halls at the Expo Centre. Asim Siddiqui, Managing Director, Pegasus Consultancy in his welcome speech showed his gratitude towards the foreign participants for their effective role in educating the Pakistani industry with their technology and expertise. These exhibitions are contributing to the progression of the economy of the country, he added.
President, Plastic Printing and Packaging Manufacturers Association, Zafar Saeed also spoke on the occasion.
