The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered Rs 2.66 million from the owners of the House of Maxim, Karachi, who deprived the general public of their hard earned money, said a NAB press release.
The House of Maxim got the contract of Lal Shahbaz Housing Scheme, Hyderabad, illegally in connivance with Sehwan Development Authority (SDA) Director General.
According to details, the House of Maxim, Karachi got an illegal contract of "Lal Shahbaz Housing Scheme" in Hyderabad in July 1998. The deal was made in connivance with the SDA Director General, who awarded the contract to the Housing of Maxim without approval of competent authority and received huge bribe.
It was revealed during investigation that no other firm had participated in the bidding process. The House of Maxim was also allowed to collect extra charges directly from the allottees of the Lal Shahbaz Housing Scheme, which was against the laid down procedures of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA). The accused have opted for plea-bargain. The details of the PB amount are as follows:
Dr Abdul Ghafoor Bhutto, son of Nabi Bux, managing partner of the House of Maxim, Karachi: Rs 1.293,750 million; Mir Muhammad Saleem Viyani, son of Moosa Viyani, ex-recovery manager, the House of Maxim, Karachi: Rs 0.92 million; and Muhammad Jamil Khan, son of Muhammad Afzal Khan, partner, the House of Maxim, Karachi: Rs 0.431250 million.-PR
