The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) is conducting an exercise to analyse textile exports. According to statistics available here, whereas an increasing trend was witnessed in the export of cotton cloth and bedwear, the exports of textile made-ups (excluding towels and bedware), artificial silk and Synth Tex was on the decrease.
The export of cotton cloth during July-Feb, 2005 had increased by 19.30 percent as compared with July-Feb, 2004. Furthermore, increase in export of cotton cloth during July-March, 2005 had been 16.48 percent as compared with July-March, 2004. Export of bedwear during July-Feb, 2005 had increased by 65.72 percent as compared with July-Feb, 2004. Increase in export of bedwear during July-March, 2005 had been 58.44 percent as compared with July-March, 2004.
In the case of textile made-ups (excluding towels and bedwear) export during July-Feb, 2005 had decreased by 14.35 percent as compared with July-Feb, 2004. Decrease in export of textile made-ups (excluding towels and bedwear) during July-March, 2005 had been 13.52 percent as compared with July-March, 2004.
Similarly, export of art silk and synth tex during July-Feb, 2005 had decreased by 38.17 percent as compared with July-February, 2004. Decrease in export of textile art silk and synth tex during July-March, 2005 had been 36.96 percent as compared with July-March, 2004.
The EPB has requested all stakeholders to intimate the reasons for the increasing and decreasing trends in the exports, along with suggestions, to further improve the same, on immediate basis.
