Pakistan has accepted Iranian proposal for holding talks on June 11 on launching a ferry service between the two countries, it is learnt. Both sides had earlier put off the formal talks for a month to launch the much-awaited ferry service between Iran's Chahbabar port and Gwadar.
Sources in the Ministry of Ports and Shipping told Business Recorder that Iranian officials have sent fresh proposal for the two-day talks to be held in Tehran from June 11.
"We have received the Iranian invitation for talks on June 11 and 12, and it has been accepted," official sources said.
It is learnt that despite the two governments' willingness to launch the ferry service, chances of success are very slim.
"There are not much chances of trade between two sides through sea. That's why one is not sure how successful the ferry service would be," sources said.
However, it is learnt that officials from both sides are going to make headway to cooperate in rescue and research operations and developing a joint strategy to control sea pollution.
"We will hold discussions to cooperate with each other in rescue and research operations and developing a strategy to control increasing sea pollution," officials here said.
