The present government is formulating result-oriented policies unlike previous governments to protect the country from energy crisis and to make the future of Pakistan secure.
In a statement here on Sunday, the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Aman Ullah Khan Jadoon said oil was the main component to generate electricity in Pakistan for which the price of electricity was higher despite provision of subsidy by the government.
Keeping in view the same situation, President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz were focusing to attain hydel-power and looking for alternative energy resources to provide cheaper electricity to public. He said the new projects included laying down an electricity line of 500 KV from Muzaffargarh to Faisalabad costing Rs 6,77 billion.
Likewise, cheaper electricity would be produced through Bhasha dam, he added. "All these projects are part of government's comprehensive policies to get cheaper energy," he said adding that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was looking for cheaper electricity through projects of solar energy.
He said the government had devised 25-year programme to meet energy requirements with little concentration on oil and focus on hydel and nuclear energy.
