The NWFP Minister for Health Inayatullah has disclosed that the newly completed Kidneys Diseasess Centre located at Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar will be fully operationlised by September this year.
He was addressing as chief guest at the foundation laying ceremony of the new building of the Urology Department at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar on Tuesday. Chief Executive LRH, Professor Abdus Samad, Chairman Urology Department Professor Taskeen Ahmad Khan, renowned urologist, Professor Hazrat Bilal and Dr Amir Alam Khan also spoke on the occasion.
The health minister said that the present government was giving proper attention to the development of all disciplines of the medical field in the province. He went on to say that the provincial government had sanctioned 192 posts for the kidney diseases centre while efforts were under way to establish urology units in all teaching hospitals of the province.
The health minister said that for the first time the present government had allocated record amount for the development of health sector in the province. Similarly, he said that development of human resources in health sector was an area of priority of the present government.
"A part from providing service structures to District Specialists and General Cadre Doctors, a proper service structure was also framed for paramedics by the Government." he maintained." Now paramedics will have the chances of promotion to grade 20" he remarked. The minister declared that deliberations were also under way for providing better working conditions to the nursing cadre.
Expressing concern over the ruddy attitude of some the health workers with patients, the health minister said that it was the most important area needed to be focused properly.
He ordered chief executives of all teaching hospitals to arrange continuous training activities for bringing positive change in the attitude of the technical and non-technical health staff.
Chief Executive of the Hospital, Dr Abdus Samad appreciated the present government for taking practical initiatives for the betterment of the hospital. He informed that construction of the judicial ward was in progress at a cost of Rs 12.1 million. Similarly, he said that construction of the Psychiatry Unit would cost Rs 30 million while Urology Unit would incur Rs 70 million.
Professor Taskeen Ahmed Khan Head of Urology Department lauded both government and management of the hospital for taking keen interest in the development of the discipline.
