It seems, being just one of the worlds if not the one most popular means of communication, WhatsApp thirst for expansion is insatiable; as the app has officially launched a new video calling feature which is sure to get its competitors, Facebook, Skype amongst others on a run for their money.

The new feature will be made available to upwards of one billion worldwide WhatsApp users on iOS, Android and Windows based phones. The best insight into this new step is that fact that video calls on WhatsApp will have end-to-end encryption just like our messages, file sharing and voice notes on the app; as people over at WhatsApp are adamant on their user privacy policies.

Co-founder of WhatsApp, Jan Koum in an interview with a prestigious media outlet said that the video calls feature will be rolled out to 180 countries within hours after the feature is introduced at an event in India.

'We obviously try to be in tune with what our users want. 'We're obsessed with making sure that voice and video work well even on low-end phones,' Koum added.

WhatsApp has operated with some autonomy since Facebook bought it in 2014. Mr Koum also stated that Facebook has allowed WhatsApp to use its servers and bandwidth around the world for voice and now video.
