MULTAN: Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has expressed its reservations over exclusion of Multan from afforestation plan of South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) and invited the company officials for discussion on the matter.
The MCCI had sent a letter to SPFC expressing its reservations and demanded that Multan district be included in the plan and the existing forests be protected, MCCI spokesman said on Tuesday.
SPFC official Muhammad Abu Bakar said in a letter to MCCI that Multan was not included because Punjab Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries Department do not have enough land in Multan for their projects.
However, the MCCI officials said that vast area was avaialable for such projects in Multan and its tehsils including Jalalpur Pirwala and Shujabad.
The SPFC official said that they would soon give a briefing to the MCCI members in that regard.
