With the advent of hot weather conditions, sudden surge has been noticed in the number of stray dogs, while more and more cases of dog-bite are being reported in different government and private hospitals in the provincial metropolis.
The increasing number of dog-bite cases has become a cause of concern for residents of different localities including Mozang, Sabzazar, Kahna, Chungi Amersidhu, Shadbagh, Wassanpura, Bund road, Baghbanpura, Shera Kot, Iqbal town etc. On overage basis, daily 30-40 cases of dog-bite are being reported in different government and private hospitals.
The attacks by pye-dogs have become the order of the day. According to councillor of UC-79 (Mozang), the capsules of poison given to pye-dogs are not effective. He claimed that before April 2006, there was no poison available with the city district government, resultantly dog-bite cases increased.
A dog-bite victim, Nadeem Ahmad, who was brought from Wassanpura for treatment to the Jinnah hospital said a stray dog bite him when he was on his way to home.
